Stave Shell Drums are unique for several reasons. They can be more articulate, sensitive and responsive. This advantage, however comes at a cost. Stave Shell Drums although built with maple reinforcement rings and extremely durable, must be treated like a hollow body guitar, violin or cello. They like being transported in a padded case. Never expose them to temperature and/or moisture extremes. The wood staves all expand and contract at slightly different rates, and micro fractures between the staves may occur. They cannot be left in your hot vehicle in the middle of summer, or the dead of winter. Respect your instrument!
